About Tanarata
Who We Are
Tanarata International Schools (or TiS) is an extended-day school with full facilities modelled on the British Cambridge University education curriculum leading to the IGCSE. Our school days run from 7:50am to 1:50pm, followed by extra-curricular activities from 2:30pm to 3:30pm.
Located just south of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, the school caters to students mainly living in Kajang, Bangi, Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur and other parts of the Klang Valley.
Tanarata International Schools take pride in its multicultural, multiracial and multinational community rooted in Malaysia with its unique blend of cultures and its history of dynamic international, inter-ethnic exchange. The school community consists of students of both sexes aged 5+ to 17 years – as well as their parents/guardians.
School Philosophy and Objectives
Tanarata International Schools believes in the development of well-rounded, educated individuals who are "well grounded" and ethically sound so as to be able to contribute actively to the community at large in a positive manner.
We also understand that such a community thrives upon respect for truth and open exchange. It favours methods of teaching which foster the joy and excitement of learning, discovery and enquiry, and which develop the faculties – intellectual, aesthetic, emotional/spiritual and physical.
It is our contention that happy, well-balanced individuals who take strength from such a community make an invaluable contribution to the world in which we live. In line with the owners/shareholders' philosophy, the school provides a broad spectrum of educational disciplines and activities, hence the number and variety of subjects and activities available in Tanarata International Schools.
School Culture
The Tanarata International Schools emphasises on the culture of commitments rather than commandments. Instead of being defined by regulations and maintained by orders, ours is an educational community in which students, guided by their instructors, identify and commit to meeting individual goals for behaviour and achievement.
Teachers, administrators and staff at Tanarata International Schools seek to create mutually rewarding relationships with students to help them accomplish their goals in all facets of personal development. Our students have a voice in charting their own courses and shaping the community they participate in. By working and playing within a progressive, empowering and pluralistic environment, they set the standards and are accountable for meeting them.
We ensure that our classes are small so that every student gets the attention he or she deserves. Teachers have time to know their students as well as their learning abilities and natural talents. To this end, student-teacher ratios are kept low. They can instruct, evaluate, counsel, and work closely with students as they explore educational arenas and overcome personal challenges.
Class sizes rarely exceed 20 to 22, with a cap on total school student enrollment at around 600 students.
Administrators, advisors and teachers are of the highest calibre at Tanarata International Schools. Our teachers are selected with great care and scrutiny based on their academic excellence, teaching histories and commitment to high ethical standards. They understand that every student is unique and they strive to grow each one in accordance with each students' gifts.
Tanarata International Schools encourages ongoing family involvement via participation or contribution in various school events as informed via newsletters. Communication channels with the school administration and teaching staff are also open at all times to students and parents, both directly and/or via the Tanarata Community Club (TCC).
In summary, Tanarata's approach to education can be encapsulated by the school's motto of Engaging – Preparing – Inspiring our students.
