There are teachers, and then there are those rare individuals who become part of a school's very soul. For the past 19 years, Ms Maureen has been exactly that.

As one of the pioneering staff members who joined Tanarata ...International Schools on Day One, she has dedicated nearly two decades to shaping young lives with patience, kindness, and unwavering commitment. She possesses a remarkable gift — the ability to calm a room full of energetic first graders with effortless ease, while somehow still finding the courage to enjoy a bowl full of what can only be described as liquid fire! Her legendary love for chillies is matched only by her even greater passion: nurturing children and helping them become the very best versions of themselves.

Through her warm smile, affectionate nature, and unique teaching style, Ms Maureen has won countless little hearts over the years. She has encouraged, inspired, comforted, and challenged generations of students, leaving an impact that extends far beyond the classroom walls.

Now, after 19 years of early mornings, busy school days, lesson plans, assemblies, laughter, and learning, she is trading the daily alarm clock for a slower pace and the freedom to enjoy each day on her own terms.

While her colleagues will undoubtedly miss her wisdom, humour, and friendship, it is the students—past, present, and future—who will feel her absence most keenly. Her legacy lives on in every child she has encouraged to believe in themselves.

Soft-spoken, dignified, and deeply respected, Ms Kartina will be passing on the baton as she retires at the end of this academic year.

As one of the pioneer teachers of Tanarata International Schools, she has been an integral part of our ...journey from the very beginning. Over the years, she has worn many hats with grace and dedication — teaching swimming alongside mainstream subjects, nurturing young minds both in and out of the classroom.

Known for her exceptional organization and meticulous preparation, Ms Kartina has always crafted her learning materials with great care, delivering every lesson with remarkable ease and professionalism. Her calm presence, unwavering commitment, and quiet strength have left a lasting impression on generations of students and colleagues alike.
